Music & Worship at St. Luke's
Worship stands at the center of the St. Luke's community. Gathered together each week to hear the good news of God's unconditional love and desire for justice, we are forgiven, renewed, encouraged and sent out to participate in God's healing work throughout the world.
Our worship follows the same pattern that Christians have used for centuries:
- We gather with song and prayer;
- We hear the word, the living presence of God found in scripture, in preaching, and in prayer;
- We share a meal, a sign of our mutual dependence on one another and a sacrament of God's real presence with us; and
- We send each other back out into the world to share the gifts we have rediscovered in worship throughout our everyday lives.
At the same time, our worship is constantly being made new by the gifts of those who assemble. Our music, our adornment of the worship space, our participation in the readings and the prayers, all point to our understanding that worship is a sharing of ourselves with God and with each other. By that understanding, we welcome the many gifts and talents that people have to offer.
