Pervasive issues of injustice and violence plague our communities. Communal experiences of trauma are arising in the wake of tragedy and brutality. This year’s assembly will blend public prayer and historical witness to Dr. King’s legacy with conversations with city decision makers and a mayoral candidate forum on jobs and public safety. Our attendance at this event will help ensure that community voices are heard by elected officials like Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle, and will build power and momentum toward campaigns to prevent violence, fund public education and create jobs.
