The word vocation has come to be associated with one’s profession or occupation–the labor for which we earn a living. But a Lutheran understanding of vocation is no so limited. Our Christian vocations are nothing less than the summons we receive from God, when the voice of God speaks to us…
Teaching and Learning in faith will continue to help our children navigate the world outside of our church. It is the work that God has called me to do.
This workshop will be held at St. Luke’s on Tuesday, October 11 from 7-9pm and will introduce the overarching theme of the subsequent series on vocational discernment using the principles and practices of the Circle of Trust method pioneered by Dr. Parker Palmer and The Center for Courage & Renewal.
The Work of Love is the first in a retreat series titled Spirited Work that will explore the topic of vocation through the lens of baptism, the Holy Spirit’s work in us, which bears fruit in our lives as “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Gal. 5:22)
