Clear Water Campaign, postscript

During Lent, 2011 members of St. Luke's made commitments to forego coffee, soda or other beverages and set that money aside to be donated from St. Luke's to Lutheran World Relief's "Fill the Well" campaign.  As a congregation, we raised $555 to support efforts by Lutherans around the world to provide access to clean water where it is most needed.  This is the letter of thanks we received in acknowledgement of our gift:September 21, 2011Dear Friends,"I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink..." (Mt. 25:35)Warm greetings from Lutheran World Relief! We received your Fill the Well gift of $555 and give thanks to God for your support of this vital ministry.Your gift will be used to help the world's poorest people have access to plentiful water. For them, life is an everyday struggle. But because of your compassion, and the compassion of others like you, there is hope for a better future.Water affects every aspect of life. Without clean, reliable sources of water, farmers can't grow crops to sell and feed their families. Women and children must often travel several miles each day to collect water, taking precious time from work and school. And dirty drinking water is a constant threat to people copin with disaster. With your help, LWR can continue to make sure families have the life-sustaining water they need now and well into the future.I'm excited that you've chosen to be a part of this ministry, and I hope you'll stay in touch to see how your support is changing lives. Please check our website, lwr.org, for pictures and updates on our work around the world. There you can also sign up to receive our monthly electronic newsletter, join our Facebook Cause, or follow us on Twitter.  And we are always available and happy to answer your questions by phone at (800) 597-5972 or by e-mail at lwr@lwr.org.On behalf of everyone at Lutheran World Relief, our partners, and those we serve, please accept my heartfelt thanks for your gift.In Christ's peace,John A.
