Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:
Throughout the New Testament, people encounter Jesus and are healed. The Church has always sought to carry on that ministry of bringing wholeness - be it physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. Stewarding our own individual health and the health of our congregations and communities is, then, a very real way of living and sharing our faith.
To help us in this mission, the synod's fall stewardship conference will focus on healthy people and healthy congregations. The conference, Living Well -- Health * Healing * Wholeness, will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2011, 9am - 3:30pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (1310 Shepherd Dr., Naperville, IL 60565).
This is a great opportunity to explore not only how health affects each one of us individually but also how health and wellness can become part of our congregational life.
The conference, including lunch, costs $25 per person (if registration and payment are received prior to October 22, 2011) or $30 after October 22. Students from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago can register for $20. Online registration is available at www.mcselca.org/what/stewardship/conference.php.
If you have any questions, please contact Steve Homberg in the synod office at shomberg@mcselca.org or 773-248-0021, ext. 20.
I hope that you will consider attending the conference, and I look forward to seeing you there. For more information about the program and speakers, click here.
