Bp. Elizabeth Eaton to be Installed as ELCA Presiding Bishop on October 5th
The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton will be installed as presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Saturday, October 5, at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel in Chicago. The installation is open to the public; tickets are not required. Worship begins at 2:00pm Central; doors open at 1:00pm. A free public reception will follow.Eaton is bishop of the ELCA Northeastern Ohio Synod and is the ELCA's first woman presiding bishop-elect. She was elected August 14 at the 2013 ELCA Churchwide Assembly held August 12-17 in Pittsburgh.Prior to becoming synod bishop in 2006, Eaton served as pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ashtabula, Ohio; interim pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman, Ohio; and assistant pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington, Ohio. She earned a Master's of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Mass., and a Bachelor's degree in music education from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She currently serves on a number of boards and committees.
