Richard and Trish Bruxvoort Colligan Join St. Luke's for Worship on the First Sunday of Advent
Richard and Trish Bruxvoort Colligan have weird jobs. They are honest-to-goodness full-time, freelance musicians. Come see them in their natural habitat, touch them and feed them. Along with their tween son Sam, they will be with us for worship on December 1st as they kick off a 10-day tour to Texas.Trish's thing is women's spirituality and how storytelling is a vital part of our personal and collective culture. (TrishBC.com) Richard is passionate about studying, teaching and singing the Psalms; he's currently working on new congregational songs for all 150 of them. (PsalmImmersion.com)Together, they're an acoustic duet called The River's Voice, more than the sum of their parts. Trish's piano and Richard's guitar are the backdrop to their delicious harmony vocals. Musically, think the Civil Wars, James Taylor, Patty Griffin, and you're close. When they visit us, they will have their CD, "Behold!" available on their sales table. This is music for the darkest season of the year: Advent, Winter Solstice and Christmastide. It's unusual because the music invites reflection on the solemn, shadow side of December even as it celebrates the slow, hopeful turning of the season.Visit them and listen for free at RiversVoice.com.
