Looking for ways to serve at St. Luke's?

clipart volunteersIt's that time of year when St Luke's is looking forward to how we'll grow and change over the year and plan for the future of our community.  As part of that process, we'll be holding our annual congregational meeting after church on Sunday, January 26.  We'll be providing some snacks, as well as childcare, and hope that all of our members can attend what we expect to be a very forward thinking and impactful meeting.During the congregational meeting, we'll be holding elections for several roles in the church that have terms expiring.  In the past we've had great success with having a mix of congregational members who have been in the church for a long time and have seen the history and redevelopment of St Luke's, as well as some newer members who might have some a different perspective and fresh ideas to contribute.We really encourage anyone who has an interest in helping St Luke's grow as a community to self-nominate for any of the available roles.  It's a great way to get to know fellow members, as well as have a direct impact on the success of St Luke's.  The roles that we will have available this year and are still looking for interested members are as follows:Council member (three 3-year terms): The council is responsible for developing the strategy and developing/executing policy in the church.  Responsibilities are a good mix of higher level "strategy" development, problem solving and decision-making, and sometimes "hands-on" direct support of community members and programs.Audit committee (1 positions for 1 year terms): This committee is responsible for ensuring that an audit of our financial practices is completed.  Some financial background may be helpful, but is not necessary.Voting Member to 2014 Synod Assembly (2 positions):  These members represent St Luke's in attending the annual synod assembly, which will be May 30/31 this year.  This is an exciting meeting that allows delegates to interact with other ELCA member church delegates, hear about the direction of the Synod for the upcoming year, and vote on important church-wide topics.  Delegates are encouraged to report back to the congregation on their experience.Nominating Committee (3-5 positions for 1 year terms): These roles are responsible for identifying nominees for any positions that are vacated during the year, as well as for any positions that roll over in the next year.  This is a great way to get to know other members in the church!If you're interested in finding out more about any of these roles and/or nominating yourself or another individual, please speak to any member of the current nominating committee (Barry Brewer, Dale Hoiberg, Pat Kuhlman, Lora Salley), or Pastor Erik.
