Theatre Y presents, "Penelope, O Penelope" at St. Luke's

For the last two years Theatre Y has been St. Luke's Artist-in-Residence. During their tenure at St. Luke's Theatre Y has presented complex, challenging work: "The Binding," "Medea," "Happy Days," and now "PENELOPE, O PENELOPE" -- which opened April 9th and is playing Thursday through Sunday until May 17.Directed by critically acclaimed Romanian director Éva Patkó, with dramaturgy by famed author Zsolt Láng,PENELOPE, O PENELOPE is a modern chamber tragicomedy inspired by Homer's Odyssey.   In this new translation by Artistic Director Melissa Lorraine, Dinah awaits her husband's return from war after twenty years, with a vengeful suitor hungry at her door. Elias—the war-riddled, hero-turned-vagabond—searches for redemption from his bloodshed and a way home from spirits and memories alike. The production employs shadow, dance, language and architecture to ask how long love lasts...and at what cost.As this will likely be Theatre Y's last production at St. Luke's before we each take leave of our building, we've been invited attend the show as a community on Friday, April 24th at 7:30pm.  Tickets are $20, but can be purchased for $15 if bought online in advance using the code: STLUKE (code available for 4/24 only).Please consider attending this ambitious work of theater as part of the St. Luke's community ... then, perhaps, adjourning to Masa Azul down the street for a nightcap and conversation about the show.
