St. Luke's Welcomes Seminary Students

St. Luke’s has three seminarians from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC) placed with us for learning and service over the coming year. Our students will be present with us in worship and throughout our weekly ministries, learning the skills of pastoral imagination and parish ministry — and you will be their teachers!

  • Evan Mayhew comes to us from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha, WI where he was deeply involved in his youth group and choir. He went on to serve as the Youth and Family Minister at Dr. Martin Luther Church in Oconomowoc, WI before starting seminary. He is eager to learn more about planning and leading worship during his time with us this coming year.
  • Sharayah Robinson hails from Incarnation Lutheran Church in Poway, CA where she too was heavily involved in youth ministry and musical ensembles. She looks forward to gaining hands on experience in worship, pastoral care and christian education.
  • Dan Beirne, familiar to us through his work with Urban Acacia, has also been placed at St. Luke’s for his Ministry-in-Context placement. Given his previous relationship with St. Luke’s he’ll be focusing on new challenges in the coming year, giving special attention to stewardship, finance and church administration.

We welcome all three of this year’s students, and look forward to installing them during worship on Sunday, September 27th.  If you are interested in serving on the seminarian support committee that will provide ongoing support and feedback to our students throughout the coming year, speak with Bill Keippel or Pastor Erik.
