Holy Wisdom, Holy Word - Season of Creation
As fall begins, we observe the Season of Creation: four weeks of "extraordinary time" that interrupt our liturgical calendar in order to draw us more fully into God's love for creation and into the urgency of our human vocation as Earth-keepers. The celebration of a Season of Creation is a world-wide ecumenical movement that arose in response to the growing global environmental crisis. Season of Creation follows a three-year pattern of readings, in rhythm with the three-year liturgical cycle. This year, the third year of the cycle, focuses on the concept of Wisdom. In the Old Testament, Wisdom (sophia, σοφία) is personified as the first creation of God, through whom God generates all other created things (Pro 8:22-31). Wisdom is often associated with the New Testament concept of the Word (logos, λόγος), which existed with God in the beginning, through whom "all things came into being" (John 1:1-4). For Christians, the Word is Christ, the second person of the Trinity. This Wisdom is the designing force of creation, the deep impulse that enables creation to fulfill its work.September 11 - Ocean Sunday(Job 38:1-18, Luke 5:1-11)September 18 - Fauna Sunday(Job 39:1-8, Luke 12:22-31)September 25 - Storm Sunday(Job 28:20-27, Luke 8:22-25)October 2 - Cosmos Sunday(Proverbs 8:22-31, John 6:41-51)For more on the Season of Creation, follow this link: http://seasonofcreation.com/
