Join the “LGBTQ Justice” Working Group!
In the winter and spring of 2017, St. Luke’s will continue to explore a new model for social justice ministry that focuses our collective offerings, education opportunities, and advocacy efforts on a single issue over the course of several months. After our campaign to support the work of the Center for Changing Lives wraps up in December, we will start a new campaign focused on social justice issues impacting the LGBTQ community. There are many opportunities to explore. What organizations will we engage and support? What type of advocacy do we want to promote? What type of service work should we do? How will we create accessible opportunities for the larger congregation to better understand and become involved with this work? We are actively seeking members and friends of St. Luke’s to be part of our “working group” to help shape what exactly this campaign will be. This is a short-term, 4-6 month commitment to help with campaign and event planning and logistics and will involve occasional events, meetings, and emails. It’s a great opportunity to get to know others in the St. Luke’s community while raising awareness for incredibly important issues that impact our friends, neighbors, and greater society every single day.
