Come Now and Set Us Free: Testimonies in Advent 2018

We enter the season of Advent this year focusing on the theme: Come now and set us free. During our Wednesday evening Advent services, we will reflect on Biblical experiences of captivity as well as historical figures who have experienced oppression and incarceration in our world. You are invited to give testimony answering the question How is God setting you free? Maybe God has helped set you free from unhealthy relationships or a toxic environment. Perhaps God is urging you to stop comparing your life to others around you and allowing you the freedom to create your own path. Maybe God is setting you free from the expectations you’ve set for yourself, and reminding you that where you are in your life journey is exactly where you need to be.Maybe God set you free from an experience of incarceration, like Paul, or a time of oppression, like Nelson Mandela. We want to hear your story during our midweek Advent service as we reflect on the liberation of God and pray over how we can be liberators in our community. If you’re thinking about giving a testimony this Advent season during our midweek evening service, contact SommerAnn (sommerann.m@gmail.com).St. Luke’s will host Advent services at 7pm on December 5, 12, and 19.
