What did I miss?! Annual Meeting Recap

If you weren't in church on Sunday, February 2nd, you missed an inspiring and fruitful congregational meeting! We missed you too, but not to worry.  Here's your chance to catch up on what you missed.I want to share with you the results of the annual meeting. We gathered in prayer and song, before taking time to get to know each other and give shout-outs to everyone who contributed to the community this year--which was everyone!Re-elected to continue serving on Church Council were Sarena Griffin and Justin Perkins (Vice-Chair). Newly elected to Church Council were Marit Johnson and Em Jacoby. Continuing their Council terms are Charlotte Flynn (Secretary) and Erika Dornfeld (Chair).Dina Petrakis was elected for Finance Committee. Elected to Nominating Committee were Mary Margaret Morris, Megan Moran, and Peter Wilhelm. Mike Byrley and Lora Salley will be representing St. Luke's as voting members to the Synod Assembly.Several other very gifted and faithful leaders also ran for positions. We thank God for all of you and your willingness to serve. Many thanks also to this year's Nominating Committee--Cynthia Stengel, Dale Hoiberg, and Mike Byrley--for their work in identifying an inspiring slate of candidates. Our proposed 2020 Budget was unanimously approved, and new business introduced: Discernment about St. Luke's location and the possibility of space sharing with Grace United Methodist. The most important part of the Location Discernment Process is a series of discernment small groups designed to allow us to listen, pray, and ask questions together. Everyone in the community is encouraged to sign up to attend one of the small groups. You can sign up at this link, or by using the paper sign up at church. Please also mark your calendars for the special town hall meeting on Sunday, March 29th at 10:00 a.m.Finally, following the meeting we shared in joint worship on the festival of the Presentation of Our Lord. It was so good to be in worship together as a whole community. You can read my sermon here, entitled "in Logan Square as it is in heaven."Hope to see you soon,Pastor Erin
