Worship in Easter | Hope Beyond Hope
19 April, 2020Dear St. Luke's,This Easter season lasts for seven Sundays--a week of weeks to dwell in the promises of resurrection. Here at St. Luke’s our theme this Easter season is Hope Beyond Hope. The salvation that God offers to us in Christ--what our reading for the second Sunday in Easter calls a “new birth into a living hope” (1 Peter 1:3) is not a shallow wish, or a feeling that depends on our human optimism or happiness. The hope of the resurrection is a stubborn clinging, a bold expectation, a no-matter-what-they-say, death-defying, life-changing, deep and abiding hope beyond hope.As we worship in this Easter season--whether your own hope feels fragile or strong--we dwell in God’s promises together.I’m excited to share about a new Wednesday night ministry that’s starting up this week. As part of the Easter theme of Hope Beyond Hope, we are telling our stories of suffering, resilience, and healing to one another on Wednesday evenings at 6PM on Zoom. This Wednesday starting us off is Em Jacoby with a story from the births of Hendrik and Tella. Look for more information in your email about how to join that Zoom meeting, or contact me if you’re not getting our emails (pastorerin@stlukesls.org). And if you have a story that you’d like to tell in future weeks, talk to me about that too!In Easter hope, beyond hope,Pastor Erin
