A Living Catechism | Worship in Time after Epiphany
Worship in the Time after Epiphany (January 12 through February 23) explores A Living Catechism, in a series designed by Savanna Sullivan. This is a creative reimagining of 7 aspects of Lutheran faith, theology, and identity for the 21st century. These concepts and principles have been developed in collaboration with diverse communities across the United States and remain intentionally open to interpretation, imagining, and reflection. We will explore themes of God’s embodiment, God present in the ordinary, God revealed in tradition and innovation, God’s solidarity with the suffering, concepts of sin, the role of scripture, and God’s mercy. These are themes common to the core of historic Christian spirituality and doctrine, and themes about which many of us continue to wrestle. Your wrestling, doubt, love, excitement, and questions are welcome this season.
Each week a secular song will be paired with one of these themes to further ignite our imagination in relation to these concepts and to allow us to explore them in new ways. The song will serve as a “holy text” or “reading” for our worship together.
