Solemn Prayer Service Commemorating 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001

This Sunday, September 11, 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the United States that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people and changed the course of our nation in ways that we do not fully understand.

People's memories of that day are different, as are our reactions to the events that followed.  Some lost family and friends, others lost a sense of safety and security.  Some supported the wars that followed, others did not.  Our sense of self and nation changed, and our wounds are not healed.

Knowing that our God is one of healing, restoration and reconciliation we trust that God is leading us into a future that is different from our past. In the meantime, we rest in the promise that God is with us to save us, from ourselves and from all that threatens God's peace and God's justice.

For these reasons, you are invited to a service of solemn prayer hosted by United in Faith Lutheran Church (6525 W. Irving Park Rd.) this Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 5pm.  This worship service is for all, regardless of political or sectarian affiliation, so that we may come before God seeking forgiveness, healing, strength and compassion.
