Naked Spirituality
Small groups with people from both St. Luke’s (Logan Square) and Luther Memorial (Lincoln Square) will be meeting to read and discuss Brian McLaren’s newest book, Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in 12 Simple Words, beginning the week of February 5th.
This book examines the impulse, and the difficult-to-express feelings, beneath the oft-claimed “spiritual, but not religious” experience, and addresses how the lack of a simple, doable, durable spirituality undermines the very transformation God is calling us to undergo. Lacking this practical spirituality, our religious structures become tools to maintain the status quo and not catalysts for personal and social change.
Naked Spirituality offers accessible, practical wisdom for living a truly spiritual life that these small groups will not only consider through their reading, but will implement in their own lives – sharing their experiences and findings with one another.
