Join St. Luke's Artist in Residence, BackStage Theatre Company, as they present their latest project for The Listening Series . This series celebrates the spoken word in a collection of plays and shorts produced "for the ear."On Monday, March 26, Backstage will present The Wreck On The Five-Twenty-Five, by Thornton Wilder in the Chopin Theatre Studio Lobby, 1543 W Division St.The Wreck On The Five-Twenty-Five centers on what happens to the cozy, respectable Hawkins family when Herbert Hawkins doesn't come home on the 5:25. His wife and daughter await his return, and begin to examine their suburban ideal. Originally produced in Berlin, 1957 and not again until New York, 1995, this rediscovered one act was conceived as part of Thornton Wilder's unfinished cycle on the seven deadly sins and and seven ages of man. This season, BackStage explores proximity and the distance between family members that may exist, no matter how physically near they are.
