Adult Faith Formation: Worship Matters

Sundays, October 14 - November 11, 9-10 amThis is a five week seminar that will explore how and why we worship, the meanings behind key aspects of worship, and how worship shapes and is shaped by by each of us. Weekly topics will include: Why do we worship?, Encountering God in Word, Encountering God in the Sacraments, Responding to God in Prayer and Praise, and Worship and the World. The text we will be using is called Worship Matters: An Introduction to Worship. Copies of the material will be made available, so all you need to bring is yourself and a sense of wonder. If you're interested in learning more about why we do what we do in worship, come join the class and experience our weekly gatherings in new and deeper ways.Leaders:Pastor Erik Christensen has been serving as pastor for St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Logan Square since October, 2006, and is the co-author of the Worship Matters.  A graduate of Macalester College (’95); Candler School of Theology, Emory University (’02); and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (’04), Pastor Erik brings variety of interests and experience to the conversation of worship.Sarah Rossing is a second year seminarian studying at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Originally from Georgia, she has lived in many places over the last few years, but always seems to find a home in communities of faith and worship.
