A Modern-Day, Way-of-the-Cross

Walk for Social JusticeFriday, April 18th, beginning at the corner of Michigan & Congressin downtown Chicago, starting at noon

8THDAYOn Good Friday (April 18th), our synod’s Working Group on the Middle East will join other social justice organizations in a Walk for Justice sponsored by 8th Day Center for Justice. The Working Group will present the 5th Station, devoted to the Weeping Women from Luke 23:27-28. What makes today’s Palestinian women weep? Come find out.Hundreds of people gather annually for this modern-day Stations of the Cross Good Friday observance that travels through downtown Chicago (starting at Michigan Ave & Congress at noon) to pay homage to social justice struggles throughout our city and the world. This walk is prayerful and inspirational.

This Justice Walk is an unforgettable event, making the struggles of Jesus on the way of the cross real and contemporary for all participants. Many congregations have noon Good Friday services, but perhaps someone with a greater social justice commitment from your congregation or in your circle of friends might find this unique observance of Good Friday meaningful and might be willing to represent the Lutherans with us. You can read more about the event at: http://www.8thdaycenter.org/content/34th-annual-good-friday-walk-justice-april-18

Please contact Pastor Carla Thompson Powell, 773-924-3121 or revctp@gmail.com, if you have direct questions regarding the Working Group’s presentation.
