A Buyer for our Property

To the Community of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Logan Square,mza_2137192613341920086.600x600-75Following our congregational meeting on Sunday, July 12 at which the offers we'd received for our building were presented and discussed, the Church Council met on Wednesday, July 15 to weigh the merits of each offer and select a buyer for our property. Following serious conversation and prayerful deliberation, the Council voted unanimously to select New Community Covenant Church and instructed our broker, Ms. Annie Coleman, to begin negotiating the terms of sale.By Friday morning, July 14, we had signed a contract with New Community Covenant Church, which brings us one step closer to finalizing the sale of our property. Next, there will be an inspection of the property along with other investigations that are standard in property sales before the actual closing. Though we anticipate a closing date of September 1, we have negotiated with New Community to retain full occupancy of the church building through October 25 (Reformation Sunday).Although the sale is not yet final, the news is now public. We will continue to share additional details during worship on Sundays and via regular email and US Mail communication.Your patience and your prayers have been a great support as we have worked to make this decision together over the last few months. Now we will need to pull together in new ways as the next phase of our leave-taking begins. In the coming weeks there will be many opportunities for each of us to assist with assessing interim spaces, planning festival worship services, cataloguing and packing those items that will be coming with us, and preparing the rest for sale or disposal. Though the task is certainly large, we are up to the challenge!Faithfully,Pastor Erik Christensen &  the St. Luke's Council
