Update from Lyn Westman from Mercy Ships
Lyn Westman works with Mercy Ships, an organization that provides urgently-needed surgeries for those who have no other hope. Many people in Africa have little or no access to healthcare. There are only 2.5 physicians per 10,000 people in Africa, compared to 33.3 physicians per 10,000 in Europe. So the Africa Mercy brings volunteer medical teams and sterile operating rooms directly to people who would otherwise go without care. It’s the world’s largest civilian hospital ship providing state-of-the-art care to those in desperate need—free of charge. An Excerpt from Lyn's update:
"Each country is unique, as are the people who live there. It is our team’s desire to make a positive impact in the countries where we serve. Circumstances range from poverty to war or disaster. Some countries experience intra-country conflicts; others suffer from cultural or religious conflicts; still others experience oppression of women and/or children. Whatever situations we face, we pray for God’s wisdom and direction, His love and His mercy to be demonstrated through our lives as we seek to serve Him. May we represent Him well as we embrace the journey and follow Jesus."
