"We Are Witnesses to These Things..." -- Testimonies for the Season of Easter
The way the story often gets told, it all ends with an empty tomb and a risen Lord. We, however, know that's just the beginning. The season of Easter stretches out 50 days (a "week of weeks," culminating in the Festival of Pentecost), during which we read stories from the Acts of the Apostles of how those who'd followed Jesus, who'd listened to and learned from him, were then sent out to share the news of all they'd seen and heard. Those they met out on the road were changed forever as the testimonies of the apostles gave rise to the church.Has a conversation ever changed your life? Have you ever had an encounter with someone that forever altered how you see yourself or the world around you?We hesitate to believe that our stories have that kind of power, even though many of us have already experienced the power of a true story told well to alter the course of our lives. As we transition into the season in the church in which we'll be encouraged over and over to "share the good news" we need to be reminded just how powerful those sharings can be.So you are invited, once again, to consider offering your testimony in worship. We're looking for six people to offer six stories over six consecutive weeks beginning Sunday, April 3rd about conversations or encounters that changed their lives for good. If you think you may have just such a testimony to offer, please be in contact with Pastor Erik. We'd love to hear your story.
