Clearly Visible in All of Nature
"Though invisible to the eye, God's eternal power and divinity have been seen since the creation of the universe, understood and clearly visible in all of nature. Humankind is, therefore, without excuse." (Romans 1:20, The Inclusive Bible)
After a long summer of rest and relaxation, our fall worship schedule begins this Sunday and, with it, a return to one of the worship practices that has quickly become a favorite of many members: testimony.Because we will once again be observing the Season of Creation this fall, we are inviting members of the congregation to consider whether they have a testimony to offer about ways they have experienced God's wisdom through God's creation, and specifically through oceans (Sept. 11), animals (Sept. 18), storms (Sept. 25), and the cosmos (Oct. 2).Please note:we're not asking about metaphoric experiences with nature -- not those moments when you felt "lost at sea" or "in the eye of the storm" -- but experiences with the reality of the rest of God's creation, which is too often overlooked and abused by humanity. If you've ever said you feel closest to God when you're out in nature, then this may be the invitation to testimony you've been waiting for. Though, perhaps it's the opposite. Maybe you have a story to tell about how God's wisdom caught you by surprise, or silently convicted you, as you came face-to-face with God's "power and divinity" (Rom. 1:20) as revealed in God's creation. If you're interested in working with Pastor Erik or our Pastoral Intern, Erin, on a testimony for the coming month, click here.
