All Saints Sunday marks the beginning of the end of the church year, which culminates with Reign of Christ. In a month full of election cycles and secular holidays, worship in November reorients us to our primary citizenship in the kingdom of God.In God’s kingdom, human expectations are reversed: those who have died yet live; bitter enemies are reconciled to one another; power and life emerge from weakness and death.This kingdom is our promised future, our hope that “in the end” God’s love will triumph over sin and death. Yet paradoxically we trust that, in Christ, that kingdom is already here. God’s future is breaking into our present. “The end” is not far off – even now, the end is beginning.
