"Being Mortal"

As a way to kick-off events related to talking about aging and end of life, let’s read and discuss the bestselling book: Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End by Atul Gawande. Atul Gawande is a well-known surgeon and writer. What do people have to say about this book?“Riveting, honest, and humane, Being Mortal shows that the ultimate goal is not a good death but a good life – all the way to the very end.”What else do they say?“Gawande tells us, using paradoxically life-enhancing stories, not how to achieve a good death, whatever that may be, but how to achieve a good life during the final stages.”For more info about Dr. Gawande and this book, see this short video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRkr09ZMI3w[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRkr09ZMI3w[/embed]If interested, the book can be purchased through the church or is available through Chicago Public Library. Please sign up to discuss this book on one of the scheduled dates.
