Preaching-Learning Community
Did you know that St. Luke's has a brand new Preaching-Learning Community?
This July St. Luke's offered a Preaching Workshop with Dr. Kimberly Wagner to anyone who felt called to explore preaching. Some of us had studied preaching before, others were brand new to preaching. Some were certain we wanted to preach; others were exploring with curiosity! We learned a lot together at that workshop from Dr. Wagner and from one another.Following the July Preaching Workshop, some of us wanted to continue working on our preaching as practice of discipleship. We wanted to work on sharing our preaching voices with the congregation! So we formed a Preaching-Learning Community. We meet together regularly via Zoom to worship, to reflect on preaching, to prepare to preach in worship, and to give each other support and feedback.
You can hear members of the Preaching-Learning Community preach in worship over the next few months! Look out for us on these Sundays:
- October 11 | 19th Sunday after Pentecost | Mark Wilhelm
- November 1 | All Saints Day | Francisco Herrera
- November 29 | First Sunday of Advent | SommerAnn McCullough
- December 13 | Third Sunday of Advent | Rachel Daley
- January 3 | Second Sunday of Christmas | Melody Stachour
- January 24 | Third Sunday after Epiphany | Lora Salley
Lutherans believe that God calls all sorts of people to proclaim God's word, not only people who work as pastors. By God's grace, each of us belongs to the priesthood of all believers. What qualifies us to preach is the call of God and the call of the community.Join us in giving thanks to God for these preachers, and praying for God's blessings as they prepare to preach. If you are interested in exploring preaching in your own discipleship, talk to Pastor Erin (pastorerin@stlukesls.org).
