Season of Creation at St. Luke’s
September 11 - October 2, 2022
Each year in September, St. Luke’s joins with churches around the globe in interrupting our normal cycle of readings for a season of “extraordinary time” in which we reorient ourselves to God as creator, our relationship with creation, and our identity as earth-creatures.
In the three-year cycle of readings, this year is called The Wisdom Series. In the gospel of Luke and throughout the Bible, we focus on scriptures where Wisdom is the designing force behind creation and the impulse that enables the parts of creation to fulfill their roles.
Join us every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for worship!
Season of Creation will wrap up with a Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 2. Bring along your (friendly, well-trained) pet, or bring a photo or remembrance of a favorite wild animal, beloved deceased pet, or comforting stuffed animal to receive a special blessing during worship.
In Season of Creation, our practice of telling one another our stories continues. Do you have a story to share about the ocean (Sep 11), fauna (Sep 18), storm (Sep 25). or cosmos (Oct 2)? Maybe you have a testimony about why creation care or environmental justice are important to your faith. We would love to hear your reflections in worship. Talk to Pastor Erin and we'll reflect on your story together.
