Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Chicago Freedom Movement
The 1,000 Mile March will recreate a portion of King's historic 1966 march into Marquette Park and celebrate the tremendous efforts of community members, organizations and institutions to create a more just city, while recognizing that we still have many more miles to go.
Remembering the Chicago Freedom Movement
San Lucas UCC invites you to a public viewing of the documentary "Eyes on the Prize" followed by a community discussion around issues of housing justice, police accountability, and structural change.
Community Renewal Society's Annual MLK Day "Faith in Action" Assembly
This year's assembly will blend public prayer and historical witness to Dr. King's legacy with conversations with city decision makers and a mayoral candidate forum on jobs and public safety. Our attendance at this event will help ensure that community voices are heard by elected officials like Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle, and will build power and momentum toward campaigns to prevent violence, fund public education and create jobs.
