Preaching Workshop on Saturday, July 18 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The workshop is open to the whole congregation, and will take place on Zoom.Together we will cover a (re)introduction to preaching, explore creative homiletics, and use some fun exercises to practice together. We know that spending a lot of time on Zoom can be challenging, so be assured that the day will also involve plenty of time for breaks, movement, and a variety of learning styles.

The Rev. Dr. Kimberly R. Wagner joined the LSTC faculty in July 2018. Four years serving on the pastoral staff of a Presbyterian (PCUSA) congregation in Virginia “fueled and informed” Wagner’s research and passion for homiletics. Her research, teaching and scholarship have focused on the role of the church and all of God’s people as proclaimers of the gospel in an ever-changing world. Her current research and writing is around preaching and trauma and her book (in process) rethinks the task of preaching to communities in the immediate aftermath of mass violent trauma. At LSTC she teaches courses such as Intro to Preaching, Ministerial Leadership, Preaching and Trauma, and Women Preaching/Preaching Women. While Wagner is committed to her research and scholarship in the practice of preaching, she has a deep passion for teaching. She holds an undergraduate degree in education, taught junior high and high school, and loves being in the classroom with seminary students, clergy, and congregations. When not teaching or writing, Kim enjoys exploring Chicago, attending live theater, trying new restaurants, and hiking with her energetic dog, Toby.
